The Head Start Approach to School Readiness

What is School Readiness?

The definition of the Head Start Approach to School Readiness by the Office of Head Start:

 

 "Children are ready for school, families are ready to support their children's learning, and schools are ready for children..."

 

The Head Start Approach to School Readiness encompasses three major frameworks that promote an understanding of school readiness for parents and families, infants/toddlers, and preschoolers. 
             

Resources for School Readiness

West Central Community Services, Inc. is committed to ensuring all of our children and families are ready for kindergarten when they exit our program. We are proud to be able to offer a strong, clear and comprehensive focus on health child development to families in Knox, Warren and Henderson Counties.

 

This includes physical, cognitive, social and emotional development; all of what are essential to children getting ready for school. The children and families that exit our program are equipped tools for their long-term success, not just success in kindergarten!
